Motorist Possibly Dead 24+ Hours After 300-Foot Fall Off Portola Valley Cliff
A Skyline Boulevard-area resident this morning saw skid marks and then spotted the Jeep.

PORTOLA VALLEY, CA - A man found dead in a Jeep Cherokee at the bottom of an embankment in Portola Valley this morning had likely been dead for more than 24 hours before he was found, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
A resident of the area near Skyline Boulevard and Old La Honda Road reported she found skid marks on Skyline this morning. She looked down the edge of the cliff and saw the car down the embankment, CHP Officer Art Montiel said.
CHP officers responded at about 11 a.m. and found the red Jeep 160 feet down the cliff.

The driver was pronounced dead there and investigators have not yet determined his name, Montiel said.
It appears the driver was headed north on Skyline sometime Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning when he lost control of the car, veered across the road and crashed down the embankment, Montiel said.
