Patient Video Portrays Poor Treatment By ER Doctor
A video taken in the emergency room of El Camino Hospital in Los Gatos has prompted an investigation of the doctor.
LOS GATOS, CA — An emergency room doctor is under fire after a video portraying poor treatment of a patient surfaced. The incident involving Dr. Beth Keegstra was taken by Donald Bardwell, while at El Camino Hospital in Los Gatos with his son, Samuel Bardwell, 20. Samuel arrived at the hospital via ambulance June 11 after collapsing at West Valley College basketball practice in nearby Saratoga, according to a local news report.
The senior Bardwell told reporters he began recording Keegstra almost immediately after she entered the room where his son waited for hours to be seen.
“He was on medication for his anxiety, but was off his meds for two days because he couldn’t get to the pharmacy before it closed,” Donald Bardwell told The Mercury News.

“They treated us like we were there just to get drugs,” he added. “We were there for four hours and the doctor finally came in with a security guard. She didn’t even say hello or ask why he was there, just came in with guns blazing. That’s why I started the video.”
In the video posted to YouTube, a person who appears to be a doctor is heard laughing and chiding the patient, saying: "Wow you must be dead! Are you dead, sir? ... I'm sorry sir you are the least sick of all the people who are here dying ... You want us to wheel you to your house on a gurney?"
