Peek into Paradise and admire the Feminine Form

Get a glimpse of paradise in Et in Arcadia Ego. Inspired by the 17th century Nicolas Poussin painting of the same name, Et in Arcadia Ego: alludes to the inevitable impermanence of the ideal. This exhibit includes significant historical pastoral paintings from private collections, placing them along side contemporary works that focus on our collective and continued fascination and pursuit of the unspoiled and the harmonious. Also presented in this exhibit, Art by David Ligare, Stephanie Peek and Holly Lane and others.

In the Heart of the Wild: Anne Brigman and Her Circle, an exhibit about 19th century Los Gatos resident, photographer and poet, Ann Brigman.

Born in 1869, Ann Brigman moved to Los Gatos when she was 16 years old. She first studied painting, but gravitated to photography and began exhibiting in 1902. Brigman focused on rugged landscapes and the female body, which resulted in new ways to explore feminine identity which was NOT a practice for women at the time. She achieved early success as a Pictorialist, belonging to the Camera Club of San Francisco and the Photo-Secession group, led by Alfred Steiglitz in New York.
