ABOUT THE BOOK: Close to 20 years in the making, Dawson’s carefully selected photographs chronicle America’s ever evolving public libraries. From the breathtaking photo of New York Public Library’s magnificent reading room to the tiny one room library in Allensworth, California, Robert Dawson’s photographs of America’s diverse libraries illustrate how these institutions have maintained the distinction as a community gathering spot and place of research, study and discovery while adapting to changing societal needs by providing technological advances such as free-Wi-Fi and internet access.
Essays, letters and poetry by some of the nation’s most notable writers accompany the photos throughout the book.
