San Jose CarMax Celebrates Grand Opening By Donating To Local Nonprofit

The new store serving Santa Clara County from its South San Jose location officially opened for business Thursday.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA -- CarMax officially opened its San Jose location for business Thursday, June 29, bringing some 80 jobs to the area. In celebration of the grand opening of the new store located at 750 West Capitol Expressway, CarMax announced that a sizable contribution has been made to a local nonprofit organization.

CarMax and The CarMax Foundation awarded $15,000 in donations and grants to the YWCA of Silicon Valley, according to a news release. Funding from the contributions, which were made at the recommendation of associates at the San Jose store, will help support YWCA programs "dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all," according to CarMax.

The local contributions are in addition to more than $30 million granted by the CarMax Foundation on behalf of associates across the U.S. since 2003.
