San Jose Teacher Arrested For Alleged Sexual Relationship With Student

BREAKING: The Santa Teresa High School teacher, Trudy Hill, 32, was placed on leave from her job.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA – A teacher suspected of having an inappropriate relationship with an underage student at Santa Teresa High School in San Jose has been arrested, East Side Union High School District officials said Thursday.

The instructor, Trudy Hill, 32, was booked into jail on suspicion of sexual assault on a minor and has been placed on leave from the job, district Superintendent Chris Funk said in a statement.

The San Jose Police Department said its investigation found that between August 2016 and November 2016, Hill had a sexual relationship with a 17 year-old male student.

The district has cooperated with police and is conducting its own investigation to make sure staff have enough training and resources to prevent future cases of sexual assault, according to Funk.

The district is supporting the victimized student and family, Funk said.

Hill, a San Jose resident, surrendered Thursday to detectives at San Jose PD, where she posted bail and was released, police said.

Charges against the suspect include suspicion of sending harmful matter to a minor and oral copulation, police said. No other victims have been identified.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call police Detective Sean Pierce of the San Jose PD's Crimes Against Children/Child Exploitation Detail task force at (408) 537-1397.
