Firefighters extinguished a one-alarm garage fire at a San Jose townhouse Friday morning, a fire captain said.

SAN JOSE - Firefighters extinguished a one-alarm garage fire at a San Jose townhouse Friday morning, a fire captain said.

The fire was reported at 7:08 a.m. at 1052 Thorndale Court, a cul-de-sac off Tuers Road, fire Capt. Mike Van Elgort said.

The garage in the two-story home was in flames when firefighters arrived.

It took about 30 minutes to get the fire knocked down, leaving the inside of the garage charred and gutted, Van Elgort said.

The firewall between the attached garage and the rest of the house kept the fire from spreading, though there was heavy smoke damage throughout the house, displacing three residents, Van Elgort said.

No injuries were reported.
