Santa Clara County Fires: Crews Blaze Rages, Park Fire Contained
The Crews Fire was 20% contained as of late Monday morning.
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — A blaze in a rural area north of Gilroy has churned through an estimated 2,000 acres was 20% controlled, Cal Fire announced late Monday morning in a news conference.
The Crews Fire, which was reported at around 2:40 p.m., originated at Crews Road near Oak Spring Circle and spread east towards the Canada Road area, according to Cal Fire.
The blaze destroyed two buildings and has triggered evacuations that remain in effect, Cal Fire said.

The evacuations included homes along Kenyatta Road, where some farm animals had to be moved fast-charging blaze approached the area, KTVU reports.
The blaze had been at 0% containment as of Sunday night.

Firefighters have gotten the upper hand in another Santa Clara County blaze near Morgan Hill.
The Park Fire near East Dunne Avenue and Finley Road east of Morgan Hill that’s burned through about 343 acres was 80% contained as of Monday Morning according to Cal Fire.
The Park Fire broke out after midnight Sunday on a wooded ridgeline outside Morgan Hill forced evacuations and grew to more than 343 acres with 70 percent containment by Sunday night, Cal Fire said.
The fire's forward progress had been stopped shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday, officials said on Twitter.
Smoke from the fire has prompted the Bay Area Air Quality Management District to issue an air quality advisory through Monday for the far South Bay, including Morgan Hill, San Martin and Gilroy.
Morgan Hill police said they did not expect the fire to threaten any homes within Morgan Hill.
