Santa Clara County Reports 175 New Coronavirus Cases, No Deaths
There were 139 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Santa Clara County as of Monday, of which 49 were being treated in intensive care units.
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — The Santa Clara County Public Health Department reported 175 additional coronavirus cases Monday.
The latest report covers a tw0-day period going back to Saturday and brings the countywide case count to 17,349.
The county reported no additional coronavirus-related fatalities Monday, leaving its COVID-19 death toll at 244.

There were 139 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Santa Clara County as of Monday, of which 49 were being treated in intensive care units.
Hair salons, barbershops and retail stores were allowed to resume indoor operations Monday in Santa Clara County while many other business sectors remain shut down due to the novel coronavirus.

Many businesses remain closed in Santa Clara County, however, and are still struggling financially or may be unclear about the reopening guidelines in their specific industry, according to county officials.
County spokeswoman Betty Duong said the county is working with business owners to save small businesses and put out clear health guidelines for industries that are allowed to reopen in some form.
"We take an education-first approach," Duong said. "We know that businesses are struggling during this time. We can't control exactly what (COVID-19) will do."

There have been 697,010 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 13,009 coronavirus-related deaths in California as of Monday afternoon according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
The United States had 6,026,488 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 183,488 coronavirus-related fatalities as of Monday afternoon.
There have been 25,338,571 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 848,203 deaths reported globally as of Monday afternoon.
