Santa Clara County Reports 7 New COVID-19 Cases, No Deaths

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — The Santa Clara County Public Health Department reported seven additional cases of the new coronavirus Monday.

The latest report brings the countywide total of COVID-19 cases to 2,341.

The county reported no additional coronavirus-related fatalities, leaving its death toll at 129.

There are currently 102 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Santa Clara County, of which 33 are being treated in intensive care units.

Elsewhere in the Bay Area, Alameda County on Monday announced the addition of four new COVID-19 coronavirus testing sites in East Oakland, Hayward and unincorporated Ashland/Cherryland.

The American Hockey League, a professional hockey minor league with a team affiliated with the San Jose Sharks, announced Monday that the rest of its 2019-20 regular season and playoffs have been canceled because of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

The Alameda County Fair in Pleasanton is being canceled for the first time in its 108-year history due to the novel coronavirus health emergency, event officials announced recently.

An economic recovery council has been formed in Santa Cruz County to help with reopening the local economy in coming months, local officials announced Saturday.

The Save Lives Economic Recovery Council, formed by the county and Community Foundation Santa Cruz County, is composed of representatives from a variety of businesses that expected to open as shelter in-place orders change in coming months, according to a release from the county.

There have been 68,782 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 2,763 coronavirus-related deaths in California as of Monday afternoon according to data from John Hopkins University.

The United States has confirmed 1,252,744 COVID-19 cases and 80,297 coronavirus-related fatalities as of Monday afternoon.
