Santa Clara County Reports 83 New Coronavirus Cases, 6 Deaths

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — The Santa Clara County Public Health Department reported 83 additional coronavirus cases Wednesday.
The latest report brings the countywide case count to 22,056.
The county reported six additional coronavirus-related fatalities Wednesday, bringing its COVID-19 death toll to 353.

Elsewhere around the Bay Area and beyond, a cap of 15 percent for fees local restaurants pay online third-party ordering and delivery services during the COVID-19 pandemic was approved Tuesday night by the Walnut Creek City Council.

The 15 percent cap will apply to restaurant delivery orders using services such as DoorDash, Grubhub and UberEats, with a 10 percent cap for meal pickups ordered through those services. It will be in effect until either the pandemic-related emergency is declared over by local health officials, or when restaurants are allowed to serve inside at full capacity.
Delivery service companies have been charging up to 30 percent per order when customers order food through the service's app or restaurant website, senior planner Jeanine Cavalli told the council Tuesday night.
San Mateo County has exhausted 96 percent of its $10.6 million immigrant relief fund, while meeting only half the demand, county supervisors were told Tuesday.
County management analyst Sophie Mintier said in a presentation that 10,156 grants of $1,000 each had been approved out of 22,745 pre-applications submitted as of Sept. 28.
The fund provides financial assistance to low-income, undocumented San Mateo County residents ineligible for unemployment benefits or a federal stimulus check. It is administered by the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County and the non-profit Mission Asset Fund.
