Santa Clara County Reports Coronavirus Dashboard Update Delay
Issues with the state's CalREDIE system that collects COVID-19 data cited for delay.
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — The Santa Clara County Public Health Department reported no updates to its coronavirus dashboard Tuesday, citing issues with the state’s CalREDIE system that collects COVID-19 data.
The county reported 887 cases on Monday, bringing the countywide case count to 74,359.
The county reported 37 additional coronavirus-related fatalities Monday, bringing its COVID-19 death toll to 47.

There were 700 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Santa Clara County as of Tuesday, of which 161 were being treated in intensive care units.
Elsewhere in the Bay Area and beyond, San Diego County public health officials Tuesday reported 24 new confirmed and four probable cases of the more contagious strain of SARS-CoV2 that was first identified in the U.K.

The new cases bring the county's confirmed cases of the variant to 28. The cases were confirmed by whole genome sequencing and the four probable cases are directly linked to the confirmed cases and have positive diagnostic nucleic acid tests, but are not yet sequenced.
There have been no COVID-19 deaths locally connected to the variant, but one woman had to be hospitalized. She is now at home recovering, according to the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency.
Nearly 90 cases of coronavirus remain active at Santa Rita Jail among the facility's inmates and staff members, according to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office.
As of Monday, 80 inmates and nine staff members have active cases of the virus, according to the sheriff's office.
Eight of the inmates are symptomatic and none are hospitalized.
Roughly 6,800 tests have been completed at the facility since the pandemic began, with another 102 outstanding.
The prison's population as of Monday was 2,158, according to the sheriff's office.
To date, 414 total positive cases have been confirmed among inmates at the jail, 139 of which were eventually released from custody.
Including active cases, 93 staff members have also tested positive.
No coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded at the prison, according to the sheriff's office.

There have been 2,481,124 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 27,046 coronavirus-related deaths in California as of Tuesday afternoon according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
The United States had 21,007,694 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 356,540 coronavirus-related fatalities as of Tuesday afternoon.
There have been 86,230,870 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 1,865,267 coronavirus-related deaths reported globally as of Tuesday afternoon.
