Santa Clara County Taps Jennifer Weeks As New County Librarian

Weeks joined the county library as a graduate intern in 2003. Her appointment became effective May 18.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — Santa Clara County announced Tuesday that Jennifer Weeks has been appointed as the new county librarian.

Weeks, whose appointment became effective May 18, joined the county library as a graduate intern in 2003.

“The Library's mission focuses on life-long learning which is imperative in building a strong and resilient community,” Weeks said in an email to Patch.

“For a young child attending storytime, a new resident practicing English conversation skills, or a teen learning to code, SCCLD library experiences are inclusive and impactful.

“I am honored to lead our award-winning system providing excellent library services. Great work is always done collaboratively, and I look forward to working in partnership with our member cities, library staff and supporters, and the County executive team to bring successful public services together countywide.”

Weeks has a bachelor's degree in English from the University of San Diego and a master's degree in library and information science from San Jose State University.

She, her husband and two sons have lived in San Jose for the past 15 years, according to the county.

"Jennifer has extensive experience developing impactful public programs and services as an executive leader, setting priorities and strategies to make the library successful and relevant in our county," County Executive Jeffrey Smith said in a news release.
