Santa Clara Man Accused Of Sexting Minor: Los Gatos Police

SANTA CLARA VALLEY, CA — A 26-year-old Santa Clara man was arrested late last week after he allegedly tried to meet with a minor for sex, according to the Los Gatos Monte Sereno Police Department. An investigation into Shahriyar Mohammed Reza allegedly revealed he befriended the minor online through a social media application through which he "requested illicit images from the victim and made attempts to meet with the victim to solicit lewd and lascivious conduct," police said in a news release late Monday.

Reza was taken into custody Thursday, Dec. 7 at his residence in the 3700 block of Lillick Drive in Santa Clara — about two blocks from AppleSeed Montessori School-Dunford and not far from two other schools.

Los Gatos Monte Sereno police detectives collaborated with members of San Jose Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in the investigation, who, along with Santa Clara police officer, assisted in Reza's arrest.

The 26-year-old was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of unlawful communication with a minor, possession of child pornography, arranging to meet a minor for sex acts, and causing a minor to send harmful matter over the internet.

Tuesday, jail records showed Reza was being held without bail pending a court appearance Tuesday afternoon.

Police did not disclose the age or gender of the alleged victim.
