South Bay DUI Suspect Accused Of Plowing Into Parked Plane

Suspect hospitalized but expected to survive, authorities said.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA – A South Bay DUI suspect was injured after crashing his vehicle into an airplane parked at a Santa Clara County airport Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

The driver, identified as 54-year-old Hung Nguyen, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after the crash at Reid-Hillview Airport, the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.

Three planes were damaged in the crash, authorities said.

Deputies responded at around 4:45 p.m. to the airport at 2500 Cunningham Ave. in East San Jose.

Nguyen was hospitalized but is expected to survive. He will be booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of DUI after his release from the hospital, sheriff's officials said.
