South Bay Explosion Probed

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office bomb squad is investigating an explosion that left a man with serious injuries.

GILROY, CA – An explosion Monday afternoon in Gilroy seriously injured a man, the Gilroy Police Department said.

Gilroy firefighters responded at 2:20 p.m. to the 1700 block of Mantelli Drive after someone reported the explosion.

The man was taken to a trauma center but an update on his condition was not available as of Tuesday morning according a San Jose Mercury News report.
