South Bay Hockey Standout Inks NHL Deal

Devin Cooley signed with the Nashville Predators. The 23-year-old goalie played his entire youth career in the Junior Sharks program.

LOS GATOS, CA — Los Gatos native Devin Cooley has signed an NHL contract with the Nashville Predators.

The 23-year-old goalie who went to Los Gatos High signed a two-year entry level contract with the Predators Tuesday, NHL.com reports.

“Dream come true to sign my first NHL contract with @PredsNHL,” Cooley wrote on Twitter Tuesday.

“Could not be more excited to join a world class organization and begin my professional career. So thankful to everyone that has been a part of my journey so far!”

Cooley played three seasons at Denver University, where the 6-foot-5 192-pounder compiled a 1.93 goals-against average, the second highest in school history, and .927 save percentage in 32 games.

Cooley played all of his youth career in the Jr. Sharks program, from in-house to the 18AAA level.

He’s also competed in the USHL, NAHL and the BCHL before launching his collegiate career at Denver University.

"Congratulations to Devin and the entire Cooley family!," the Junior Sharks announced on their website.
