SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA – Public health officials are investigating a coronavirus outbreak at a South Bay nursing home that has already infected more than 30 residents and workers, KRON reports.

So far, 33 infections have been reported at Atria Willow Glen Senior Living Facility in San Jose, the report said.

“It definitely emphasizes the fact that indoor congregant gatherings and facilities are just very dangerous when it comes to this pandemic,” Santa Clara County Supervisor Dave Cortese told KRON.

Atria Senior Living, the company owns the facility, told the TV station that most of the cases are asymptomatic.

“We continue to operate with escalated safety protocols at Atria Willow Glen,” the company said in a statement according to the report.

“This includes restricting access to essential visitors only, screening staff for temperatures and symptoms regularly, and frequently monitoring residents for any symptoms.”
