An Owl's Eyes: Photo Of The Week
A screech-owl lands in the backyard of a Los Altos photographer's home.

LOS ALTOS, CA — We could all use some company while we’re sheltering in place. A Los Alto photographer recently got a special guest. Ted Simon discovered a screech-owl on an oak tree in his back yard and he got this closeup shot.
Don’t fret. The animal’s voice isn’t as irritating as its name suggests according to the Audubon Society.
“Despite the name, screech-owls do not screech; the voice of this species features whinnies and soft trills,” the Audubon Society’s website says.
