Super Bowl 50 From Space: Photos of the San Francisco Bay Area

Super Bowl 50 had astronaut Scott Kelly focused on the Bay Area. He posted a series of spectacular photos taken from the space station.

Yesterday’s Super Bowl was thrilling, especially if you’re a Denver Broncos fan and if you appreciate good defense.

The halftime show was also top notch, headlined by Coldplay, and featuring performances by Bruno Mars and Beyonce.

The weather cooperated, with blue skies and temperatures in the mid to upper 70s at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. Those clear skies gave astronaut Scott Kelly a perfect opportunity to snap photos over the San Francisco Bay Area as he zipped by at 17,500 MPH.

Kelly posted 3 photos of the Bay Area to his Twitter feed. He captioned them:

  1. #GoodMorning #SanFrancisco! Hoping for a great day today! #SuperBowlSunday #SuperBowl #YearInSpace
  2. Got to see the #SuperBowl in person after all! But at 17,500MPH, it didn’t last long. #YearInSpace
  3. #SanFrancisco, Looks like a great night down there after #SB50! #SuperBowl #YearInSpace!

Kelly also posted a photo of his TV screen as he watched the Super Bowl. Not exactly a wide screen.

Next, perhaps, he’ll grab some photos of the Broncos victory parade through Denver on Tuesday.
