18-Year-Old Killed Near Malibu After Car Tumbles 100 Feet
Adrian Salinas of Oxnard has been identified as the passenger in a car that fell off the side of the road Tuesday afternoon.

MALIBU, CA — A young man was killed when the sports car in which he was a passenger tumbled 100 feet off the side of a road in an unincorporated area near Malibu.
The victim has been identified as Adrian Salinas, an 18-year-old from Oxnard.
The black 1996 Mazda Miata in which Salinas was traveling was found at around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday down an embankment near Stunt and Schueren Roads, right near the Topanga Lookout Trailhead and the Backbone Trail, according to California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Rescue crews arrived to Salinas dead and the driver, whose name is not yet available, trapped in the wreckage. The driver was airlifted to a nearby hospital in “severe distress,” the fire department reported.
Stunt Road was closed between Mullholland Highway and Scheuren Road between 4 and 8 p.m. Tuesday, California Highway Patrol reported.

Melanie Flores of L.A. County Fire said that it is not yet clear why the incident occurred.
