4 Pepperdine Students Dead In Malibu Car Crash: School Officials

The crash was reported in the 21600 block of the Pacific Coast Highway in an area known to locals as "Dead Man's Curve."

MALIBU, CA — The four women who died after a male driver lost control and slammed into a set of parked cars in Malibu on Tuesday night were likely students of Pepperdine University's Seaver College, the university said in a tweet Wednesday.

"We continue to cooperate with law enforcement and care for loved ones affected by this tragic event," Pepperdine wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. "As we await further details from the investigation, we pray for our entire community. The University will provide updates as we receive additional information."

The driver, a 22-year-old man who has since been arrested on vehicular manslaughter charges, apparently sideswiped the cars before crashing into the group of young women, who standing on the side of the road, KTLA reported.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have contributed to the crash, authorities told NBC4 Los Angeles.

Two other people were rushed to the hospital after the crash, which was reported around 8:30 p.m. on the 21600 block of the Pacific Coast Highway, in an area known to locals as "Dead Man's Curve," according to NBC4.

All four women died at the scene, the Lost Hills Sheriff's Station told Patch Wednesday morning.

The Pacific Coast Highway was closed in both directions from Carbon Canyon to Las Flores Canyon until around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, the Lost Hills Sheriff's Station said in a Facebook post.
