  • A hive of bees or a flock of chicken from Heifer Project
  • Some bricks or windows from Habitat for Humanity

We will hand-calligraphy a holiday gift card. Your recipients receive this card, describing the contribution you made in their honor. Your gift will then be used to help a family become self-sufficient, provide shelter for refugees, or provide dinner for the homeless.

Lovely hand-made gifts created by Third World crafts people will also be on sale, and their purchase will send funds back to cooperatives in developing countries, to support families laboring to lift themselves out of poverty. For example, the Malibu High School service club, Zanmi, will be selling hand-made handcrafts to help some of the poorest women in Haiti. The Zanmi club focuses on raising money to improve the lives of Haitian women and their families. They collect recycled t-shirts, which are then sent to a group of women in Haiti, who use the t-shirts to create contemporary folk art. The club then sells this art, and are best known for selling the hand-sewn “Zanmi” dolls (which translates to “friend” from Haitian Creole) along with hand-crafted baskets made from scratch.
