THE AMERICAN ELECTION SYSTEM IS A TRAVESTY!

The United States should stand for one man/one vote democracy…period!

Real Time Update: Tonight in the state of Utah, a major caucus center ran out of ballots and were printing them out on their printer..problem is, they can't verify if these people who filled out the new forms are actual registered voters...this has happened in many caucus states so far this primary season...this is the United States of America....

I can’t believe that a country as sophisticated as the United States has an election process that would be comical if it wasn’t so undemocratic and perverse….It's a circus.

Just start with this….You can get the support of more United States voters than your opponent and yet, through some ridiculous and unnecessarily complicated algorithm you can lose the election to your opponent. This actually happened in 2000 and because of this we got George W. Bush (man who received less of the popular vote than his opponent) and with W. Bush we got the Iraq War and now ISIS and total instability in the Middle East, etc….We can’t blame this on the American public…the majority of voters didn’t want W. Bush to be President..but we designed a process so silly that it didn't matter what the voters wanted…

The United States should stand for one man/one vote democracy…period!

Take our Presidential primary process, for example….this makes about as much sense as “Groundhog Day” and the legend of Punxsutawney Phil. The primary process starts in Iowa and then travels to New Hampshire….a person can almost lose the election by merely not doing well in the state of Iowa and New Hampshire such is the absurd leverage given to someone who wins an Iowa Caucus or a New Hampshire primary….your whole campaign can be over with just the voting of a fraction of 1% of the American public…

In the early voting primary states there has been a high occurrence of states from the south---states which are the strongest supporters of Hillary Clinton in large part due to her extremely high support among black voters. Because of that region which has voted before most of the other larger states (and regions) in the country, Hillary’s people are now calling for Bernie Sanders to back out of the race….well, what if the primary process started, by sheer whimsy, in Vermont, New Hampshire, Michigan, Utah, Idaho, Alaska, or any of the other (9) states that have been won by Sanders…Sanders could say, “Look, I have won all theses states and you have won none and you should drop out of the race (before states that are more supportive of you get even a chance at voting).

When some states get to vote first…in an order that is totally random….voters in other states are unfairly influenced….polls have shown that people like to vote for “winners” and when a candidate starts winning primaries then undecided people voting in states that have not yet had primaries are more likely to vote for the front runner OR, due to the relatively poor showing of their favorite candidate in earlier primaries, choose not to go to the polls at all due to a very biased and premature collection of data…It is incredibly random, unfair, and anti-democratic.

And, let’s examine what a caucus is (try not to laugh out loud)…almost 1/3 of all states use the Caucus system which is like having a two hour "pin the tail on the donkey" contest while doing shots of vodka and seeing who is left standing. It is so far removed from sensible democracy I am almost apoplectic…if we were Tanzania it would still be embarrassing…

People at the Mayberry County Fair had a much fairer way to select the winner of the “Best Dill Pickle” contest than does a Caucus.

In a caucus a potential voter is expected to spend 2 or 3 hours listening to speeches in a gymnasium or someone’s living room. So, this selects for total voters who are nerds ….no normal voter is going to take 2 to 3 hours out of his night to listen to people shouting and cheering and trying to convince you to vote for their candidate. It’s like someone saying that the only way to cast your vote was to go to a ballot box on the top of Mt. Everest….why make it so incredibly difficult?

Just contemplate this statistic…the New Hampshire primary had 53% voter turnout…because of the ridiculous and cockamamie voting practices in a caucus, Iowa had a voter turnout of only 16.1%. That says it all. Fringe groups and fanatics have much more control in a caucus…..the loudest people in your town have more control in a caucus…and, the way they count votes for a Caucus is one large ear away from being "Mickey Mouse"---my elementary school used a more scientific way of counting students who wanted hot dogs or spaghetti for lunch at the cafeteria….In the end, in a caucus I think they give all the votes to a man who puts them in the back of his pick up truck and he counts them while watching reruns of “Golden Girls”. This makes "hanging chads" look like state of the art.

I would hate to imagine what the margin of error is in a Caucus relative to what the actual sentiment of the voters in that state….+/- 30? People count votes written down on napkins….and sometimes those napkins get stained with too much of Aunt Bee’s fruit punch and you can’t read the napkin…they don’t even do this in Haiti.

How about this….you can vote a full month before someone else votes in your state…so, you can vote for a candidate before all the data is in…your candidate can be caught in bed with a prostitute the night before the election and since your vote was cast a full 30 or 45 days before the official election date your vote can’t be rescinded….that isn’t democracy…..not even close. Why even have debates if people have already made up their mind?…heck, why, then, not let people vote a full year before the election…as soon as the candidate declares his candidacy?

What if, instead of taking a vote of everyone…they first polled only people over 65….so, they had Hillary or Cruz or Trump ,etc., leading by, say, 12 points, among voters over 65,…..and then before people less than 65 have a chance to go to the polls….candidate A or B is already behind and cast as “losing” or Candidate B is cast by the media as the frontrunner ….based on completely skewed and incomplete data. This is one of the first things that aliens will point to when they declare that we are not intelligent lifeforms.

And, how about this totally random practice…you can be running against your opponent in the state of Florida….and lose by one single vote…and your opponent gets all 99 delegates. There are almost 20 million people in Florida and your opponent could get 10 milliond votes and you could get one vote less than 10 million and it would be as if you never even ran in that state. It’s as if you never entered the race..and yet you had essentially the EXACT same votes as the other guy……whereas, in the neighboring state of Georgia, you can beat your opponent by a sizable margin and yet he/she can win 40% of the available delegates for that state.

What the heck is the reason for having “delegates”? “Super” Delegates? That is donkey! Are you kidding me?…..how about ONE MAN/ONE VOTE??

Why different rules that are totally non sensical..it’s like saying that whoever gets the most votes in Rapid City, South Dakota is declared President….

What if in order to start your car each morning you had to ride your bike down to the DMV and prove that you were fit to drive by taking a driving test…at which time they would give you your car keys (for one day) so that you can bike back to your car and then start driving…

Some things, (most things) are best done when they are done most simply. Who thought to take one of the most simple procedures and turn it into a Rubik's cube wrapped in a riddle? Why aren't we doing this online to avoid the 2 hour plus waits at the voting booth?

It would just be a sad joke if the head of your Boy Scout Troop was elected viz this bizarre ceremony…but when a process so undemocratic, corrupt, and disenfranchising is allowed to pick the leader of the Free world…that is an outrage….

And, how many people in November..who live in the west cost, will, when they see that the vote count has come in on the east coast, will decide to not bother going to vote because they feel the election is already been determined…?

Wow….I know the DMV is screwed up but it looks like a precision Swiss watch compared to the United States of America’s process for electing it’s President.

Democracy...it works when it works but when it doesn't... it's real bad....

food for thought....
