• Tesla Plunges 300 Feet Off Mulholland Highway, 2 Rescued (patch.com) — Emergency crews in Malibu rescued two people Friday morning after a Tesla plunged about 300 feet off Mulholland Highway in the mountains above town, briefly affecting traffic near Pacific Coast Highway. Malibu Search and Rescue, firefighters, and a helicopter worked in steep terrain to reach the victims, who were taken to a trauma center as officials investigate the cause.    

• Malibu Volunteers On Patrol Rescue Trapped Teenagers (canyon-news.com) — Local sheriff’s deputies and Malibu Volunteers on Patrol recently helped rescue two teenagers trapped by the rising tide between Little Dume and Big Dume near Point Dume. Officials are urging Malibu beachgoers to respect fast-changing ocean conditions, especially near evening high tides, and are inviting residents to learn more about joining the Malibu Volunteer on Patrol program online.    

• Dern takes bow at Cannes with new documentary on life (nsjonline.com) — Longtime Malibu resident Bruce Dern, who once jogged from his home here to Hollywood sets, is being celebrated at the Cannes Film Festival with a new documentary on his life and career. The film and interview trace his decades as a character actor, his creative improvisations, and his enduring work ethic at age 90.
