About 150 students and parents came to March 15 to celebrate the wonderful world of science at Family Science Night, an event sponsored by the Webster PTA.
David Green, chemistry professor at , began the evening with a chemistry demonstration involving bright colors, oozing foam, fun with liquid nitrogen and—the students’ favorite—a giant fireball. Where else can you learn about the scientific method while watching things explode?
Families then got to take part in different hand-on science activities led by Pepperdine science professors and students. The activities included glow sticks, comparing human and sheep brains, dissecting owl pellets, making slimy polymers and exploring the world of cells. In the hallways of the school, parents could be heard saying, “Who knew science could be so fun?”
