
The summer is over, and it is time to hit the books again. The academic year begins today for all public school students in Malibu. Today's schedule for Malibu's four public schools is:
High school begins at 7:50 a.m. Middle school begins at 8 a.m. There is a PTSA meeting in the Malibu High Library at 8:30 a.m. It will be followed by an orientation for new families.

High school students will pick up their official schedules in the New Gym. Middle school students will pick up their official schedules from tables set up in the Middle School Quad near the library. Students then proceed to the first period class shown on the official schedule. Even if students believe there is an error, they are to attend all the classes shown on their official schedules. There are no schedule changes the first day of school.
Note for sixth-graders who have physical education for 1st period: Middle School PE teachers will be in the Middle School Quad to meet you.

Classes begin for all students at 8:45 a.m. Kindergarten dismissal will be at 11:45 a.m. All other students will be dismissed at 3:06 p.m. There is a meeting for new parents in the auditorium at 9 a.m.
Classes will take place from 8:25 a.m. to 1 p.m. for all students. There is a Welcome Back Coffee and Volunteer Fair for parents at 8:30 a.m.
Classes are from 8:10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for grades 1-5. Classes are from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for kindergarten.
Don't forget, students must show proof of a by Sept. 30. There are medical and "personal belief" exemptions. Contact the schools for more information.
