Book Sale Set For Later This Month

For months, teenagers from St. Aidan's Episcopal Church and Malibu United Methodist Church have been collecting donations and will offer hundreds of used books at bargain prices.

Teenagers from two Malibu churches will hold a community book sale fundraiser on May 20.

The book sale will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at St. Aidan’s, 28211 Pacific Coast Highway, across from Paradise Cove. Cash, check and credit card will be accepted for payment.

Proceeds will help pay for the youth group’s annual Sierra Service Project mission trip, an interdenominational Christian effort founded in 1975 by two Methodist ministers. 

SSP teams spend a week repairing homes on Native American reservations in the western United States. In the past, teams of teens have done roofing, built wheelchair ramps, repaired drywall and painted homes.

This summer, Director of Youth Ministry Victor Eichhorn will take the youth group to Fort Hall, Idaho. They will spend a week serving, learning from, worshipping and in fellowship with the Shoshone-Bannock tribes.

Donations of books, DVDs, VHS tapes, CDs and video games will be accepted before the sale and are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. For more information, contact the St. Aidan’s church office at (310) 457-7966 or office@staidanschurch.org.
