Malibu Country Mart and the Malibu Chamber of Commerce Celebrate Earth Day 2013!

Malibu Country Mart and the Malibu Chamber of Commerce Celebrate Earth Day 2013!

I read Rachel Carson's "Silent Spring" in high school (www.amazon.com/Silent-Spring-Rachel-Carson/dp/0618249060) and was at San Diego State College in 1970 when the first Earth Day was Celebrated.  Boy has the environmental community grown since then!

  • Lower operating costs and increase asset value
  • Reduce waste sent to landfills
  • Conserve energy and water
  • Be healthier and safer for occupants
  • Reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions (http://www.usgbc.org/leed)

I also like their seasonal celebrations like Earth Day and winter holiday!  For more information on their "green" initiatives, contact the Country Mart's Director of Sustainability Julie Labin at JLabin@kossfinancial.com.

The Malibu Chamber of Commerce - now led by 2013 Chairwoman Beth Pearcey-Neal,  Director of Marketing at the Malibu Golf Club - supports an active Enviro-Sustainability Committee.  Meeting the third Thursday of each month at 4 PM, this committee provides educational workshops and expert speakers. Accomplishments include the Wallflower Festival & Eco Home Tour & Expo.  This committee actively seeks experts willing to speak to Malibu.  Non-Chamber folks are welcome to participate to help maintain Malibu's marvelous natural environment.
