Passenger Airlifted After Car Skids 200 Feet Off Malibu Cliff

Firefighters airlifted the passenger of a car found 200 feet off the side of Kanan Dume Road.

MALIBU, CA — A vehicle plunged about 200 feet off Kanan Dume Road, near the intersection with Zuma Edison Road, in Malibu Wednesday morning and a Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopter crew hoisted the injured driver to safety.

A passenger was found about 200 feet off the side of a cliff on Kanan Dume Road shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday, according to Supervisor Bernard Peters of LA County Fire. Helicopters and a 100-foot aerial truck, as well as personnel from the California Highway Patrol, helped extricate the passenger from the car to a nearby hospital.

The exact condition or identity of the passenger is unknown, Peters said.
