Civic Center Way Stretch Closing For Repairs Starting Wednesday

MALIBU, CA — A portion of Civic Center Way in Malibu will be closed, beginning Wednesday through mid-April, for a storm-drain repair project, according to city officials.

The affected stretch is between Vista Pacifica Street and the entrance to Malibu Canyon Village, west of Webb Way, with crews working Mondays through Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an April 17 expected completion date.

Detours will be in place seven days a week throughout the project, city staff said.

Malibu officials shared what motorists need to know:

"Northbound detour on Civic Center Way, with access via Webb Way: This is provided as the main access to Malibu Canyon Village only.

• Two-way traffic will be available northbound on Civic Center Way from Webb up to the driveway entrance of Malibu Canyon Village only (open at all times).
• Residents may exit Malibu Canyon Village northbound on Civic Center Way to access the existing ramp onto westbound Pacific Coast Highway.
• No traffic will be allowed beyond this point with no access to Vista Pacifica Street, Winter Canyon and Malibu Canyon roads.

"Southbound detour on Civic Center Way (access via Malibu Canyon Road). This is provided as the main access to: Webster Elementary School / Malibu Seventh Day Adventist Church / Our Lady of Malibu Catholic Church and School / Vista Pacifica Street and De Ville Way properties.

• Two-way traffic will be available from Malibu Canyon Road to Vista Pacifica only.
• No traffic will be allowed beyond this point with no access to the Malibu Canyon Village.
• Time-of-day restrictions for left turns from Malibu Canyon onto Civic Center Way will be temporarily lifted.
• Road access available: De Ville Way / Vista Pacifica Street / Winter Canyon Road."

Students and families picking up meals provided by Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District at Webster Elementary School, at 3602 Winter Canyon Road, are advised to go north on Malibu Canyon Road from Pacific Coast Highway and turn right onto Civic Center Way to reach the school, officials said, adding that access to the facility will not be available on eastbound Civic Center Way from Webb Way.
