ELIZABETH WARREN: A SHEEPISH COWARD IN HERO'S CLOTHING

Opportunist: (noun) a person who exploits circumstances to gain immediate advantage rather than being guided by consistent principles or plans.

I thought I respected this woman…it is true that I share many of her concerns for America…I agree with many of her positions, and her apparent commitment to exposing the corruption and money laundering that has had so much control over politics in America. Foolishly, I thought she was different….that is, until I saw how she played "hide and seek" during the year long Democrat Primary that has, for all intents and purposes, ended….with Hillary Rodham Clinton as the victor….

When I put Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren side by side I contrast a doer, with a talker..…a true leader and visionary who stands tenaciously for the working class of America....and a calculating politician who is personally ambitious, a coward, who abandons her own (apparent) principles because she wants to make sure she doesn’t jeopardize her own ranking in the party…because she wants to nod and “play the establishment game” and not upset someone who might be able to help her career.

If you were espousing racial justice all of your life…and you were marching in protest alongside Martin Luther King, and the police came to arrest all the protesters and they arrested King and then they looked at you and you said, "I don't know this man, I was just walking". What would you call that? An act of courage, or an act of cowardice?

If you were one of the those Founding Fathers who was meeting with other (like) rebels to plan a revolution against England… and you were all scheduled to stage a public revolt against the King and you agreed, with your fellow rebels that you were going to meet in the Town Square to protest the King…and you dressed up and arrived in the Town Square as planned…and found that the other rebels didn’t show up as promised….they stayed home out of fear….and when the rebels were later asked if they aligned with the lone rebel in the Town square who was arrested, they said…No, we have never heard of the guy”. We love the King.

Remember the young college student who stood in front of the tank in Tiananmen Square and was prepared to be run over? Imagine if a group of his colleagues had vowed to stand in front of the tank with him....and they had all left him alone...to battle the entire Chinese army on his own?

We now know the difference between a “Founding Father”, and a coward….in this recent Democrat primary we know who showed up in the Town Square…alone, and totally abandoned….we know who campaigned tirelessly, without corporate support or SuperPacs….we know who fought the Revolution for social justice and who was fearless…..AND, we also know who stayed home.....who stayed home and did the calculations....and who now, likes to have her picture taken next to the “winner”, Hillary Rodham Clinton. Elizabeth is out now…she is all out there supporting Hillary…she is all over the TV sets….she wants us to know that she is right here for an interview….

Even though anyone who has followed politics over the last several years knows that Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are policy clones….they have the exact same views on almost all of the issues….and their views and vision have virtually nothing in common with Hillary Clinton’s views…In fact, their views conflict with Hillary’s in many areas….the chasm is wide. In fact, Senator Elizabeth Warren had this to say in a 2003 book where she blamed campaign contributions from banking interests for why Clinton flipped from being opposed to an overhaul of bankruptcy laws as first lady – calling it “awful”– to voting to advance the bill as a freshman senator.

Warren noted that Clinton had received $140,000 in campaign contributions from banking industry executives as she sought a Senate seat. “Big banks were now part of Senator Clinton’s constituency. She wanted their support, and they wanted hers—including a vote in favor of ‘that awful bill,’” Warren wrote.

Elizabeth Warren has gone on record, on video, as criticizing Clinton for taking money from Credit Card companies which provoked her to change her vote 180 degrees on the Bankruptcy legislation that was before Congress when Hillary was a first term Senator. She has accused Hillary of taking bribes....just as Bernie implied.

In the midst of all this….Bernie Sanders has been unequivocally scrupulous and consistent in his effort to fight Wall Street…he has been hand in hand with Elizabeth Warren…he has NOT taken corporate money from Wall Street, as Clinton has…..and Sanders (not Hillary) has campaigned unapologetically for a $15 minimum wage, free college tuition, fighting income equality that is eroding this country. Sanders and Warren fought together to oppose the recent free trade deal espoused by the White House and most Republicans, the TPP, whereas Hillary called it “the gold standard” for free trade deals….(Hillary later changed her position when she felt it was politically expedient to do so). Warren’s foreign policy is in sync with Sanders….and it is in total opposition with Hillary’s staunchly provocative foreign policy record that gave W. Bush the power to invade Iraq, that supported and carried out disastrous regime change in Libya…and unsuccessfully called for a regime change in Syria….

So, when the Democrat primary came to Massachusetts in early 2016, surely Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren would recognize her twin brother, Bernie Sanders, on the ballot…., I mean, anything else would be a mutiny and a total betrayal, not just of Sanders, but of her own values and voting record. Warren conspicuously chose to NOT endorse either candidate…preferring to hedge her bet in the event that Hillary won the nomination…..Massachusetts went to Hillary in a nail biter….Warren stayed silent.

For the last 12 months Bernie had been carrying the torch for every cause that Elizabeth Warren holds dear; he was in the battlefields fighting the long fight where Warren not only didn’t have the courage to run for the presidency herself, but she didn’t even lift a finger to help Bernie….

The cynical side of me says that Hillary approached Warren early in the primary process, terrified that Warren would logically endorse Sanders. She offered her the VP position if she remained neutral until the end....Hillary knew that a Warren endorsement for Sanders could be enough to cost her the election. What money won't buy... power will.

For Elizabeth Warren….this was her “time” to take a stand in a crucial moment of “great moral conflict”. We didn't ask her to run for President...she could play golf while Bernie was speaking to large crowds across the country for 12 months with little rest. We just needed her support and endorsement. Elizabeth Warren wasn’t up to the challenge. She was a coward…she was not there to be counted….why?, because she wanted to make sure that she still could garner favor with a potential HRC White house, a White House that would not forget that Warren supported Bernie. Warren had personal ambitions…Now, we see Warren waving the flag for Hillary….”here I am, I’m ready for my Close Up....now Get one of me and Hillary”.

Do you think for a second that if it was Elizabeth Warren who had run against Hillary that Bernie wouldn’t have been right with her every second of the way….campaigning for her….endorsing her on day one? Of course he would have….because Bernie Sanders is about the country…and where it is going..he is not about Bernie Sanders….

Warren has proven herself to be just another politician whose silence can be bought….she is no different than Hillary..not really, and not much different from those politicians who sell out to the NRA. She is “Fool’s Gold”. She left Bernie standing in the Town Square alone….You don’t get on Mt. Rushmore doing that crap…..you won’t even get your face on the penny without a backbone.

I should have known better….pick your heroes very cautiously….there are very few of them out there….many are “wolves” in hero’s clothing.

Bernie Sanders was the real deal…if you are a true progressive…Bernie was the Messiah….yet, only 1 United States senator supported him, only 30 of over 500 Super Delegates….only a few out of the 435 congressmen and women….yet, Bernie won 43% of the primary vote….why would he get 1% of the support of Beltway politicians? Because of lack of courage…because of ambition…because of selfish ambition.

So, if you don’t mind, Ms. Warren…don’t watch from the sidelines as Bernie Sanders runs the first 26.1 miles of the marathon in sweltering heat….all on his own…against someone who is being carried in a gold plated, corporate money sponsored rickshaw. Don't jump into the race, arms raised, for the last .1 mile to take Bernie’s baton and step in front of him across the finish line. That's so politician of you.....
