MALIBU, CA — Hundreds of people have rallied behind the family of Erik Berg, who died after being hit by a car on Pacific Coast Highway on Sept. 17.

Berg, 39, of Thousand Oaks was hit by a car while crossing PCH, the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station said. The car had been speeding and ran a red light, the sheriff's department said. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner made the identification Saturday.

Berg's co-workers at Millworks by Design, a Simi Valley-based specialty contractor, made a GoFundMe campaign to support Berg's wife and two sons. In just three days, the campaign has raised over $168,000 for Berg's family from more than 300 donors.
