On Jun 9th, in Pacific Palisades, Malibu residents will gather for a day of food, drink, music and polo at the storied Will Rogers polo fields. Watching the game of kings, dining on the fields as the horses go thundering by, promises to be delightful afternoon while supporting the Malibu charity helping local at risk youth.
With a tasting by Malibu Family Wines, hand rolled Cubans, VIP Celebrity Card Club, an auction, raffle and door prizes the 6th annual event is geared to raise funds for the kids. “We are here to raise funds while having fun” says Safety Harbor Kids President, Petrie Alexandra Williams. “This is an elegant event and one of the most beautiful places in all of Los Angeles – Will Rogers knew what he was doing.”
Indeed. One of the first movie stars and the biggest box office star of his day, Will Rogers made more than forty films both silent and sound. Now, the last polo field in LA, Hollywood actor’s like Clark Gable, Leslie Howard and Spencer Tracy could be seen playing Polo in the day with actresses Joan Crawford, Barbara Stanwyck, and Joan Bennett in attendance. Hit movies Star Trek IV and Pretty Woman were also filmed there.
Safety Harbor Kids Career, Music and Art education programs serving orphans, foster and homeless children are supported by film and television including Ed Asner, Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon, Jeremy Piven, John Savage, Jim Belushi, producer Hawk Koch and others.
