Fisherman Falls Off Malibu Cliff During Tropical Storm Hilary
A fisherman was badly injured after he fell off a cliff as tropical storm Hilary battered the Malibu coast.
MALIBU, CA — Authorities on Sunday rescued a fisherman after he fell down a 30-foot cliff as tropical storm Hilary battered the Malibu coast.
The man, who is in his 50s, was fishing near Mastro's Ocean Club on Pacific Coast Highway when he fell into the rocks 30 feet below at around 5:30 p.m., according to Malibu Search and Rescue.
Rescuers hoisted the man up using a rescue winch and basket. He was transported to a local trauma center for treatment of a critical head injury, according to authorities.

The rescue occurred during heavy rain and wind at the height of tropical storm Hilary, making for a particularly dangerous operation, authorities said.
