Graduation Week Continues in Malibu
Malibu High School's Eighth-Grade Promotion takes place today at 9 a.m.

1. Members of Class of 2011 received their diplomas Tuesday afternoon at a joyous graduation ceremony at the school's amphitheater. Go to see Leigh Shane's photos from the event. This was the first Malibu Patch photo assignment for Shane, who graduated from Malibu High in 2010. She will take more photos for the website during the next few months, before returning to college on the East Coast in the fall. We are glad to have her on the team for the summer.

2. City and Regional Water Quality Control board officials appear to be near a compromise on . An item on the agenda for Monday's meeting is a Memorandum of Understanding between the city and the Regional Water board. Neither a draft MOU nor a staff report was included on the online agenda as of Wednesday at 5:30 a.m. Mary Linden, executive assistant for vacationing Jim Thorsen, said Tuesday afternoon that the proposed MOU was not finished, and as soon as it was, it would be placed online.

The National Weather Service's daytime forecast calls for "areas of fog" before 11 a.m. Also, it is expected to be mostly sunny with a high near 81 and a west/northwest wind traveling 10 mph to 15 mph. Gusts could reach 20 mph. At night, it is expected to be partly cloudy with a low near 57 and a wind traveling west/northwest—becoming east/southeast—at 5 mph to 15 mph. Patchy fog is expected after 11 p.m.
