LA County Issues Countywide Curfew Mon, 6/1, 6pm To Tues, 6/2, 6am.

No civil unrest incidents have been reported in Malibu over the weekend.

The City of Malibu supports peaceful First Amendment protest and offers our support to our neighboring cities that have been hard hit with looting and violence over the weekend. The City Council and staff are here to serve the community and are committed to protecting the health and safety of the Malibu community during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the current civil unrest.

The City of Malibu falls under the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles County Curfew Order that was issued from 6:00 PM Sunday, May 31 through 6:00 AM Monday, June 1 and has been extended again tonight, Monday, June 1, 6:00 PM through Tuesday, June 2, 6:00 AM. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is enforcing the curfew across the County and in Malibu. The County order and other County emergency information is available, and will be updated, on the County website.

The City and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will not tolerate looting or violence and the City is in close coordination with the Sheriff’s Department and LA County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl’s office on any potential response in Malibu.

No civil unrest incidents have been reported in Malibu over the weekend. The City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) remains activated, the City continues to monitor the situation together with the Sheriff’s Department and will put out emergency alerts and public safety information as needed.

The City Manager requested additional Deputies to be staged at Malibu Lost Hill Sheriff’s Station over the weekend ready to respond to any incident that may occur in Malibu, and 50 additional Deputies were staged at Lost Hills. The Sheriff’s Department is on tactical alert and will respond to protect life and property in Malibu.

Although many restrictions of the County and State Stay-at-Home Orders have been eased, the Orders remain in effect to slow the spread of the coronavirus, including physical distancing and wearing cloth face coverings when people are not in their residence.
