Malibu Announces Lane Closures as Civic Center Wastewater Treatment Facility Construction Continues

The lane closures are necessary for construction safety, the city said.

MALIBU, CA — The city of Malibu announced several lane closures this month in connection to the construction of the Civic Center Wastewater Treatment Facility that might adversely affect traffic in the area.

The lane closures are:

  • Bluffs Park

Starting on Aug. 29 and lasting for approximately one month, crews will close the far right-turn lane of Winter Mesa Drive turning onto Pacific Coast Highway eastbound from inside Bluffs Park for approximately one month for trenching work.

  • Malibu Canyon and Pacific Coast Highway

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 6, and lasting approximately one month, trenching work will be done on the northeast corner of Malibu Canyon Road and PCH, taking away the far right lane, leaving one lane open on Malibu Canyon Road northbound for about 100 yards. The left turn lanes of eastbound PCH turning northbound onto Malibu Canyon will be reduced from two lanes to one lane.

  • Webb Way & PCH

Starting mid-September and lasting approximately 6-8 weeks, tunneling work will take place on Webb Way just north of PCH, reducing that section of Webb Way to one lane northbound and one lane southbound. Motorists will still be able to turn right, left, and proceed straight through the intersection. No lanes will be closed on PCH.
