Malibu Blood Drive, Call For Art: 5 Things Happening This Week
Here's a roundup of events happening in Malibu the week of June 4.

MALIBU, CA — Happy June, Malibu! Let's hope the gloom lifts soon.
There's plenty going on in the city this week: Here's a roundup of five things you should know about.
1. Malibu City Hall is the place to be on Saturday, June 10, where the Public Safety Expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The agenda is chock-full of informative and fun events: You'll be able to ride in an earthquake simulator and learn about how to make your home earthquake-safe. There will be a guest book to write thank-you messages to first responders, plus representatives from countless agencies, from state wildfire insurance officials to the sheriff's K-9 unit.
Oh, and a free lunch that includes vegan options and shaved ice.

2. Speaking of public safety, the city Public Safety Commission will meet on Wednesday, June 7, at 5 p.m. to discuss updates to the Malibu Emergency Plan. You can check out the agenda here.
3. The city and American Red Cross are teaming up for a blood drive on Thursday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at City Hall.
You can register in advance online and enter the code “CityofMalibu.” For more information, call 818-200-3445. Bring a photo ID, and drink plenty of water and eat well before and after giving blood.
4. As always, the Malibu Farmers Market on Sundays is a great way to start your week, with offerings of everything from artisan food to fresh veggies. It runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. outside the Malibu Library.
5. The city Arts Commission is seeking local artists interested in having their works considered for the next exhibition at the City Gallery, "Shifting Tides."
The theme is centered around something integral to Malibu's DNA, surfing. Submissions can be submitted online by June 7 and can be in any medium.
