Malibu City Hall Closes Amid Rising COVID-19 Cases
City hall closed Wednesday in Malibu in response to a quickly growing number of COVID-19 cases in Malibu and the country.

MALIBU, CA — City hall closed Wednesday due to the ongoing COVID-19 surge in Los Angeles County, the city announced Tuesday.
Malibu had 1092 cases as of Tuesday, an increase of 128 cases from just a week ago, according to data from the Los Angeles County department of public health. Meanwhile, Los Angeles County hospitals have been quickly filling up with COVID-19 patients.
City hall will be closed through Jan. 28, the city said, though the city will consistently reassess to see if city hall can reopen earlier. All city services that can be done online will continue through this time.

“The temporary closure is out of an abundance of caution to help slow the spread of COVID-19 amidst the current surge so that we can protect the health and safety of the community, especially seniors and other high-risk groups, and to allow City staff to continue to safely provide essential City services,” said Mayor Paul Grisanti in a news release from the city.
