Malibu, Find Your Local Beach Cleanup Sept. 18
September is Coastal Cleanup Month, and on Sept. 18, dozens of beach cleanups will take place across the shores of Los Angeles County.

MALIBU, CA — Now that summer is nearing its end, it's time to say "thank you" to the many beautiful beaches that have been serving us well all season. That's right, this September is Coastal Cleanup Month — and a statewide beach cleanup day is underway.
This Sept. 18, dozens of beaches spread across the coast of Los Angeles will not only see the familiar beach towels, surf boards and fold-out chairs of visitors looking for a fun day in the sun — but the efforts of countless residents picking up discarded trash from the sandy shores.
According to the California Coastal Commission, in 2019 more than 74,000 volunteers picked up more than 900,000 pounds of trash from beaches and waterways throughout California.
