Malibu High Hoops Ends Tourney with Win

The Sharks defeat Villanova in their final game of the Viewpoint Tournament.

The boys varsity basketball team fought off a determined Villanova squad Saturday to place fifth in the Viewpoint Tournament. The final score was 62-50.

In contrast to , the Sharks had a powerful start, jumping to a 9-0 lead. Villanova was fighting an uphill battle for the rest of the game. Malibu was led by center Justin Holmes with 20 points and 23 rebounds (13 offensive) and Jack Platner with 14 points and 6 assists. Malibu will face Villanova again in Frontier League games starting in January.

This week, the Sharks head up the coast for the tournament at Pacifica High School, where they will be tested playing against Oxnard, Lompoc and Sun Valley.
