Malibu Hosts Ceremony For Civic Center Water Treatment Facility

The facility "represents a smart approach to managing Malibu's most precious resource: water," city officials said.

MALIBU, CA – The City of Malibu will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Civic Center Water Treatment Facility on Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. The Mayor, City Council, distinguished guests, neighbors and friends will be in attendance, and the ceremony will be followed by tours of the facility.

The tours will have stops with docents explaining the facility's major features. The facility represents a smart approach to managing Malibu's most precious resource: water, the press release said.

"The plant employs the most advanced water treatment technologies available to produce millions of gallons of clean, recycled water that will be used to irrigate parks and landscaping in the Civic Center," the City of Malibu said. "As drought becomes the new normal in California, the plant supports local efforts to combat drought and climate change by reducing the use of expensive, scarce drinking water for irrigation."
