Malibu Local Election Degenerates Further
Developer Identified Circulating Spurious Flyer
Though very much a sideshow to the national election that is sadly becoming more dissolute every day, the councilmanic campaign in Malibu frankly also has degenerated.
The circulation of a repugnant flyer vilifying Bruce Silverstein, previously exposed as spurious, is still being circulated over the internet, albeit with a warning that it contains adult sexual content.
Though not authorized by any candidate, it’s obvious intent is to discredit Silverstein and by doing so enhance the candidacy of his arch opponent, Paul Grisanti. The motive is devious; the design cheap and disgusting.

And that is what an election campaign worker shockingly received as a reply to her text message on behalf of Silverstein and Uhring she had sent to a Malibu resident simply listed as a registered Republican voter.
The resident identified through the phone listing as a Nathan Jones, of Carbon Mesa Road, not surprisingly is a local developer, the principal of the Jones Building Group, a firm according to a website, “known for constructing luxury homes and commercial properties in Malibu..”

The firm is further described as having ”exquisite taste and big ideas,” needing “a partner with honesty and integrity,” using the finest architects and subcontractors, “to make the impossible a reality.”
Listed in the website as a partner was a David Charvet, a former actor, living in Serra Retreat in a house not coincidentally Jones is said to had worked on as a laborer. He subsequently joined with the neophyte Charvet to become self-described “top tier” developers of high-end homes.
A few of the houses identified only by their Malibu streets reportedly were designed by Burdge Architects, the local firm ill famed for the mid Malibu bloated motel that was considered so poorly conceived it was rejected by the usually pro development Council, overriding Grisanti’s lone approval.
Jones also is listed in the Malibu Boys&Girl Club’s website as the president of its board of directors. It notes he is a former rugby player, having immigrated from Wales in 2001 to play for the Santa Monica Rugby Club, and has two sons that attended Webster Elementary. He also is said to be active in the AYSO.
Jones was unable to reach for comment on several listed phones. Taped replies made no references to the nefarious flyer.
But apparently Jones talked to an informed Silverstein, who he told that he had replied to the campaigner’s text with a promotional notice of the salacious flyer, but with no ill intent, only for her information. No apology was offered.
Replying with disdain, the Silverstein supporter noted that Jones apparently had ready access to the obscene flyer, and had answered her with it as an obvious taunt. She continued:
“It was a lack of character of someone who clearly should not be associated with the Boys&Girls club and that any of his projects seeking city approval should be questioned.”
