MALIBU, CA — Trancas Canyon Park and Charmlee Wilderness Park will be closed through Saturday due to severe fire weather conditions, and may even remain closed longer, according to the City of Malibu.

The National Weather Service for Los Angeles and Oxnard has issued a red flag warning for Malibu from 6 a.m. to Saturday at 8 p.m., meaning the area is at a high risk of wildfire.

The city will experience low humidity and wind gusts, making it more likely for a wildfire to spread quickly.

Malibu residents should prepare for potential fires, evacuations and power outages. Traffic obstructions may also occur due to downed trees and power lines or traffic signal outages, according to the city.

The city warned residents to prepare emergency plans, such as evacuation routes and emergency supplies like batteries, food and medication.
