Malibu Places Third in Equestrian Competition

The high school team competes against more than 65 schools at Hansen Dam Equestrian Center.

The  equestrian team had an outstanding performance at the Interscholastic Equestrian League competition last week on Sunday at Hansen Dam Equestrian Center in Sylmar. The seven riders contributed to the team's third place finish overall out of more than 65 schools. 

The three riders representing the Novice Division did a particularly amazing job, winning the overall Championship Award. Abby Blackwod won the Novice Equitation championship and was named reserve champion overall for the Novice Division (out of more than 50 riders). Edie Denker won the Novice Dressage championship and Renie Walczuk was named reserve champion for Novice Dressage. In addition, Kelsey Holmes won the Junior Varsity Dressage championship.  

For the season, Malibu High is in first place in the Novice Division with just one show remaining on April 15. Holmes is in first place for the Junior Varsity Dressage, Renie Walczuk is in second place for the Novice Dressage championship and Abby Blackwood is in second place for the Novice Equitation Division and fourth place overall for the Novice Division.
