Malibu's Roadwork List For 2023-24: Six Streets Set For Resurfacing

MALIBU, CA — The city is planning to resurface six streets in the upcoming fiscal year, according to a plan advanced by the City Council on Monday.

The projects are being funded by a pot of money allocated to Malibu by the state through SB 1, the 2017 program paid for by gas taxes.

Malibu's 2023-24 allocation is $265,471. The city identified six street resurfacing projects that will be paid for by that money:

The roads will be resurfaced with an asphalt rubber hot mix overlay, which is made up of recycled tires. The asphalt is expected to last 20-30 years, according to the city.

The project funding is set to be finalized when the City Council approves its fiscal year budget in the coming weeks.
