Malibu's Public School Year Nears End
Malibu High School graduation is Tuesday. Eighth-grade promotion is Wednesday.

1. This is the final week for the 2010-11 academic year for Malibu's public schools. seniors have a mandatory graduation rehearsal today from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The ceremony takes place Tuesday at the MHS Amphitheater at 2 p.m. A free Grad Night celebration takes place at the House of Blues in Hollywood from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. The Eighth-Grade Promotion takes place Wednesday at 9 a.m. Wednesday is also the final day on the academic calendar for all the public schools in Malibu.
2. Malibu Park artist Paul Rusconi was in the news throughout the state Sunday as word trickled in that he had been arrested Friday on suspicion of lewd acts upon a minor and possession of child pornography. The alleged victims were his 20-month-old twin daughters. Go for more information on this story.

4. Mayor Pro Tem Laura Zahn Rosenthal says the area north of the proposed parking lot at Malibu High could be a space for a new city ball field. The agenda for June 27 includes the proposed allocation of $20,000 "to assist [the school district] with the environmental reports required to explore the possibility of adding a ball field."
5. The National Weather Service's daytime forecast calls for sunny with a high near 78 and a west wind traveling 5 mph to 10 mph. At night, it is expected to be mostly clear with a low near 54 and a wind traveling northeast—becoming east/northeast—at 5 mph to 10 mph.
