The Malibu Woman’s Club featured an English High Tea last week in Malibu. Forty women gathered for a delightful fund-raiser at a private home in Malibu hosted by Gerry and Mehri Frost. Each of the guests wore stylish hats for the occasion.
Co-hostess Joan Blackman said, “We are so pleased to exemplify our logo, ‘Nurturing leaders of tomorrow,’ by gathering community women and friends to our cause.” For over 50 years, club members have given awards to winning essays of fifth graders and scholarships to high-achieving high school seniors to promote education of the youth of Malibu.
In a picture-perfect setting, a rose garden overlooking the blue Pacific, the catered affair featured romantic rose pattern china and fine linens. The served Champagne was a hit! There were also assorted hot and cold teas accompanied by watermelon salad, dainty savory sandwiches, and scrumptious desserts including fresh-baked scones.

The Malibu Woman’s Club is preparing for future fund-raising events. The Love Boat Cruise hosted by Chris and Don Briscoe on September 7th and Charlotte and Fred Ward will host a play about Bobby Fischer called Mate on October 19. The community is invited to purchase tickets if available and participate in the fund-raising efforts for the 2014 scholarship fund.
