Malibu's Webster Elementary School Appoints Interim Principal
Michael Smith will serve as the school's principal until a new principal is selected.
MALIBU, CA — Webster Elementary School will welcome Michael Smith as interim principal until the position is permanently filled, officials announced Thursday.
Smith has worked in education for nearly 50 years in many positions like elementary school teacher, bilingual coordinator, English learner coordinator, assistant principal, principal, director and interim executive director in many Los Angeles school districts, according to a release from Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District. His most recent position being in Malibu from 2011-2021 as principal of Our Lady of Malibu School.
He has also worked at many universities as an adjunct professor and faculty member, including California State University, Los Angeles and Loyola Marymount University, the district said.

The application deadline for the principal position was Aug. 1. Applications are being reviewed and interviews of candidates will be conducted soon, Executive Director of Malibu Pathway, Isaac Burgess, said.
